Overview
These 3D Printing Service Terms apply when you buy a 3D printed item from Kobee, request a custom 3D print, upload or send a model file, ask us to quote a print, or provide drawings, dimensions, photos, notes or other specifications for a printed part.
These terms supplement our Terms of Service, Refunds and Returns Policy, Shipping Policy, Privacy Policy and Tutorial and Tool Safety Disclaimer. If there is an inconsistency, the more specific term applies to the 3D printing service, subject always to the Australian Consumer Law and any other law that cannot be excluded.
Catalogue prints and custom requests
Catalogue 3D prints are printed from designs we make available for selection. Custom 3D printing requests are printed from files, drawings, dimensions, descriptions or other instructions that you provide or approve.
For custom requests, you are responsible for confirming the design, scale, units, dimensions, wall thickness, tolerances, clearances, material choice, colour, quantity, orientation requirements, surface expectations, assembly requirements and intended use before approving the print.
Unless we agree in writing, custom 3D printing is a manufacturing service only. It is not an engineering, industrial design, certification, compliance, safety assessment, testing or product approval service.
Submitted files and instructions
You are responsible for checking that all submitted files and instructions are complete, accurate, printable and suitable for your intended application. This includes STL, STEP, OBJ, 3MF, CAD files, drawings, screenshots, dimensions, tolerances, thread specifications, material notes and reference images.
Files can contain errors that are not obvious until slicing or printing, including non-manifold geometry, inverted normals, holes, thin walls, unsupported features, wrong scale, intersecting bodies, excessive detail, hidden geometry or parts that cannot be printed reliably in the requested material.
We may make reasonable assumptions, orient parts for printing, add supports, choose print settings, repair simple mesh issues, split a model, scale a file based on supplied instructions, or decline a request. We are not responsible for design correction or engineering validation unless we expressly agree to provide that service in writing.
Intellectual property and permissions
By submitting a file, design, drawing, logo, trademark, image, character, product shape or other material, you confirm that you own it or have all permissions needed for us to assess, quote, print, package, ship, support and otherwise fulfil your request.
You must not submit material that infringes copyright, designs, patents, trade marks, moral rights, confidentiality obligations, privacy rights or any other third-party rights. You are responsible for any claim arising from material you submit or approve, except to the extent caused by our unlawful conduct.
You grant Kobee a non-exclusive licence to use submitted materials for assessing the request, preparing a quote, printing the item, communicating with you, providing support, handling disputes, keeping business records and reprinting the item where needed for the order or warranty support.
Restricted and refused prints
We may refuse, cancel or stop work on a 3D printing request if we reasonably consider it unlawful, unsafe, infringing, misleading, abusive, unsuitable for our equipment, inconsistent with these terms, or inappropriate for Kobee to manufacture.
- Weapons, firearm parts, weapon accessories, imitation weapons intended to deceive, or items designed to injure people or animals.
- Keys, lock bypass tools, security circumvention devices, hidden surveillance items or items intended to invade privacy.
- Counterfeit goods, protected logos, branded parts, characters, artwork, product designs or replacement parts where you do not have permission.
- Medical, dental, therapeutic, food-contact, child-safety, PPE, electrical safety, mains voltage, vehicle, aerospace, structural, load-bearing or life-safety parts unless suitability is independently assessed and legally permitted.
- Items that are hateful, harassing, exploitative, unlawful, export-controlled, dangerous goods, or otherwise restricted in Australia or the destination country.
Materials, tolerances and finish
3D printed items have process characteristics that differ from injection-moulded, machined or professionally finished parts. Normal characteristics may include layer lines, support marks, seams, stringing, small blobs, minor colour variation, visible infill patterns, slight warping, small surface blemishes and differences between material batches.
Dimensions may vary because of material shrinkage, printer calibration, layer height, nozzle size, part geometry, orientation, support removal and post-processing. Unless we agree a specific tolerance in writing, printed parts are supplied to a reasonable hobby and prototyping tolerance for the selected process and material.
Materials have limits, including heat resistance, UV resistance, moisture absorption, chemical resistance, brittleness, flexibility, food safety, flame behaviour and outdoor durability. You are responsible for checking material suitability for the environment and use case.
Safety and suitability
Do not use a 3D printed item in a safety-critical, load-bearing, high-temperature, mains-voltage, medical, food-contact, child-safety, automotive, aerospace, protective, animal-care, pressure, lifting, climbing, electrical enclosure or other high-risk application unless a suitably qualified person has independently assessed, tested and approved the design, material, installation and use.
3D printed parts can fail suddenly, deform under heat or load, absorb moisture, crack along layer lines, weaken with UV exposure, become brittle over time, or behave differently from parts made by another manufacturing method.
You are responsible for testing prototypes, checking fit and function, inspecting parts before use, using appropriate fasteners and inserts, following laws and standards, and stopping use if the item shows wear, cracking, deformation, heat damage or other signs of failure.
Quotes, lead times, changes and cancellation
Quotes are based on the information available at the time, including file complexity, estimated print time, material, colour, quantity, post-processing, support removal and packing requirements. We may revise a quote if the file, material, printability, risk or requested work changes.
Lead times are estimates only. Prints can fail, need reprinting, require material changes, be affected by equipment maintenance, or take longer than expected because of complexity, batch scheduling or quality checks.
Once you approve a custom print and we begin preparation or printing, changes and cancellation may not be possible. To the extent permitted by law, deposits, setup fees, design-preparation work, materials consumed and partially completed custom work may be non-refundable unless the Australian Consumer Law requires a remedy.
Returns and remedies
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If a 3D printed item is faulty, materially different from the agreed specification, damaged in transit, or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee, contact us with your order number, photos, measurements and a clear description of the issue.
For custom 3D printed items and made-to-order prints, change-of-mind returns are generally not available unless required by law. Differences that are normal for the selected 3D printing process, material and reasonable tolerance are not faults merely because they differ from an ideal rendering or expectation.
If a problem is caused by an error in your file, measurements, instructions, approved proof, intended use, installation, testing or handling, a remedy may not be available unless required by law.
Privacy and confidential designs
Custom files, drawings and project notes may contain personal information, confidential information or commercially sensitive details. We handle personal information under our Privacy Policy.
Do not submit highly confidential, regulated, export-controlled or sensitive designs unless you are comfortable with us receiving, storing and processing them for the order. If you need special confidentiality terms, ask before sending the files. We are not agreeing to an NDA or special security obligations unless we accept them in writing.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject to rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable laws, Kobee is not liable for loss, damage, injury, death, project failure, product recall, compliance failure, certification failure, IP claims, indirect loss, consequential loss, lost profits, or property damage arising from your submitted files, design defects, incorrect dimensions, unsafe use, unsuitable material selection, misuse, modification, installation, testing, reliance on a prototype, or use in a high-risk application.
Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited, at our choice, to resupplying the service, repairing or replacing the affected item, paying the cost of resupply, repair or replacement, or refunding the amount paid for the affected item or service.
